Top
young cyclist - Levi Huck.
TIME TRIAL HAT TRICK
ONLY two years after starting racing with
Doncaster Wheelers teenager Levi Huck has rounded off a splendid
season by achieving success in three major time trial competitions.
The 18-year-old Woodlands rider won the North
Midlands and Yorkshire titles - and finished in third place in the
National Junior Best All-Rounder competition. Levi's performances
against the clock have been impressive.
Over ten miles he clocked 21 minutes 1 second on the course at Ranby,
North Nottinghamshire, and for the 25-mile distance in South Wales
he posted a best of 55 minutes 12 seconds. Former McAuley
School student Levi, who is now studying for his A levels at
Doncaster College, said: "I am delighted to have been so successful
in what is my first racing season.
"The hard training that I put in last winter made a big difference
and helped me to improve my times."
Playing a big part in Levi's development has been his father Graham
Huck, who was a member of the 1975 Doncaster Wheelers team of Huck,
Robson and Bickerstaffe that won the National 12-hour Team Time
Trial. Levi added: "Much of my quality training is done in our
garage on my turbo trainer. "The forty minutes interval
sessions are tough but I get a real buzz from them." Levi
acknowledges the support that he has received from his parents and
fellow Doncaster Wheelers members. And, with more miles on the
road this winter, backed up by weight training sessions at the Dome
and some competitive outings at triathlon he hopes that he will
achieve even better results next season

CYCLE ACE BEATS HIS BEST
TALENTED young Doncaster Wheeler Alex Wallis
produced a personal best performance when he competed in the
Hartlepool Cycling Club ten mile time trial ridden on the A19 at
Crathorne.
The 13-year-old Ridgewood Comprehensive School
pupil, who lives in Sprotbrough, recorded a time of 26 minutes 43
seconds to knock over half a minute off his previous best to finish
the event as fastest schoolboy in the event. Alex, the son of
Doncaster Wheeler Chris Wallis, is in his second season with the
club.
He followed up that performance with a creditable 69th place in the
George Herbert Stancer National Schools 10 mile championship at
Boroughbridge last Saturday in a time of 27.59.
