I've always loved riding bikes. I first approached Rockingham c.c. because they met in Swinton where I lived but at 11 years old was told I was too young.

At 12 years of age I discovered Rotherham Wheelers and better still they had a slow group(sorry social group) who were prepared to look after me. After a hard year of long steady weekends I was hooked, but soon needed something else and started racing with the English schools. I stayed with Rotherham up to 1995 I started to do more time trials after turning senior as I did better at them.

I joined J.E.James r.t in 96 as they had a good level of riders in time trials . I did 3 years with them and had regular good results. I started to go for coaching with Pete Read as I looked to move up a level, and he then had the idea of starting a team ,this was my best ever season with me Rob Newman,Joel Wainman and Keith Murray we had a strong team . We won a bronze medal in the last ever 100km national t.t.t, and I was second counter for the team gold in the national 50. We also did the crazy time of 47m33seconds for the Askern 3upt.t.t on one of those never to be repeated superfast days.

I joined Doncaster with Adam Weaver in 2003 and now enjoy all aspects of cycling and still love early season racing but now when the sun shines warm I prefer a club run or my motorbike to the stress of travelling up and down the country to race.

At the moment (2004-2005) I going to have a crack at the early season hilly time trials and some local road races starting as early as mid Feb. if the events are there, after that it will depend on motivation. Trev wants me to do the 12hr but I haven,t decided yet.

If you are missing the club 10s there is the Christmas 10 at cuckney, I think its the Saturday before Christmas, I,m going to do it and Graham Rushworth said he might , its not to be taken too seriously at that time of year.
