I always loved sport of any kind when I was 12 or 13, running and swimming mostly, getting a top 20 placing in the national schools biathlon.
I never really bothered with bikes all that much it was something my dad did and that was that, soon enough at 15, I had a go at it, and the familiar story of embarrassingly falling of my bike at traffic lights because I couldn't un-clip the pedals became a regular occurrence. With my dad teaching me the basics and letting me go at my own speed, I soon improved.
That first year I only to do a few races and I finished of with a PB of 24:33. couldn't say I was seriously cycling as it was mainly a laugh, riding with Alex Roelich and doing a couple of cycling tours of Wales and the Yorkshire moors.
The next year it I went at it more serious and had more successful year with finishing of with a 22:24 for a 10 and a 1:00:54 for a 25. Doing a few Road races and also coming third in the district GHS and being a member of the winning team for that Event and getting into the nationals was good.
