I have been a member of Doncaster Wheelers since the beginning of 2001. After work experience at the Club sponsor, Don Valley Cycles my interest in cycling developed. I began by going out on the bike with my dad and progressed to Saturday runs with Club members. Enjoying the leisurely café stops as much as the long rides going to places like Lincoln, Newark and Stan's café near Clumber Park!

By 2001 I was keen to start racing and participated in U16 road races and time trails. I was third in the local GHS championships and represented Yorkshire at the national round of the competition. I moved up to be a junior for the 2002 and 2003 seasons racing with the seniors and in junior competitions in both road races and time trails.

I excelled throughout both seasons particularly in the form of developing new excuses to explain away poor performances. I participated in rounds of the national junior RR series, completing the Junior Tour of Wales twice. I found these competitions hard but very enjoyable.

This year I have moved up to the senior ranks as a third cat, as well as moving to university at Newcastle. With the help of other club members I have been able to race across the north in mainly RR's. Getting a 2nd and 12th finishing with 17 points but still a third cat!
