Always a keen sportsman, I served in the Royal Airforce for 19 years. I represented the RAF as a runner and a cyclist mainly in Inter-service Championships.
Although not a body builder,up until the last couple of years,I have done a lot of training with weights which I continue to do through the winter. I usually commence my strength training phase in October concentrating on the heavy leg press and back strength, which I believe gives you a reservoir of power for the coming cycling season. Nowadays I discontinue weights once the season starts.
