I started cycling after I got a racing bike for my 9th birthday . My bike had always ben my favorite toy as a kid but with this one I could ride further and faster with less effort than before.

Soon I was nagging my dad to take me on long bike rides and we both joined rotheham wheelers in 1988. I did club runs mainly with the occasional time trial and some juvenile crits at wombwell go kart track. I turned junior in 1994 which mean`t that I could now do road races which I instantly enjoyed more than other aspects of the sport.

In 1995 I joined Thurcroft CC because it had a lot of other members the same age as me and ew all had quite a good season with three of us getting selected to ride the junior tour of ireland for the north midlands. This was an 8 day stage race with riders from all over europe and I took a right battering and had three crashes so I came home feeling sorry for my self and didn`t really touch the bike for 6 months.

For the next few years cycling took a back seat while I started a job and had to do work for college and didn`t really have much time to train.

After I was fully qualified at work I packed the job in and went to belgium for 6 months to race over there which was very hard as the racing is really fast.

I joined Doncaster wheelers in 2003 and have enjoyed riding for the club. The club runs are good and the youth hosteling trips a good laugh.I think that racing for the club is brilliant as we all get on and work very well together and I have learn`t a lot off other members in the team and as a result it has brought me on which I am very gratefull for.

For next season my aims are to do what I did this season but slightly better , to hopefully keep my 'Elite' licence and improve my overall position in th premier calender.

I have started running again in the winter and am doing one or two cross country races to try and keep me fit over the winter without putting too much weight on and also having a break from riding the bike a lot so that I don`t get mentaly stale. Then hopefully I will be rairing to get lots of miles in on the bike after christmas so that I am ready to race in March
