The club ran a cat 4 RR on 26th September. The event attracted 60 entrants. Weather was sunny and the wind was slight. After riding the neutralised mile or so the race got off to a fast 27mph and maintained that pace until lap 3, when it settled down. However, the pace was too much for some, who dropped off the back. The final lap and a half was frantic. The main bunch of about 40 riders sprinted for the line. Two riders crashed, but got to their feet, just shaken.

After the race, back at Ziniz Restaurant, John Tanner of Planet X presented the winners with their awards and Doncaster Wheelers settled down to a barbecue.

An excellent day. Thanks to Martin Maltby of Don Valley Cycles for organising the race and barbecue. Not an easy task, by far. Martin is soon off to Italy to watch the Tour. A well deserved break for Martin, who this year has achieved Cat 2 status.

Also, again, many thanks to all the club members who helped out with the marshalling. The wives, family and friends of members who were there to support.
